Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
